St Patrick’s College Grade 8 to 12

Our College learners can choose from a variety of career-focused subjects that are in line with the IEB Curriculum and the IEB Grade 12 Qualification. These include Accountancy, Life Sciences, Afrikaans, Business Studies, Drama, English, Geography, Life Orientation, Info Technology, Maths, Maths Literacy, Physical Science, Visual Arts and History. Sport and academics are a very important part of education, but we believe in the total development of a child as a complete human being. Therefore our learners are taught about the important role that each person plays in their community through the community service program that includes environmental cleanups, visits and services rendered to the local SPCA, orphanages and street children’s safe houses to name a few. Our Grade 11s are provided with an opportunity to obtain work experience in their field of choice as they look towards making career decisions. Our College pupils also have vibrant social life with many social events such as the Valentine’s Ball, Winter Ball and Matric Farewell on our calendar. Among their many other performances, our Drama department stages our ever - popular College play each year. This play differs in genre from year to year- comedy, tragedy and musicals - you name it, they do it! Our talented visual arts students often display their creations at various social functions and exhibitions, artists in the making! We take part in several national and provincial events such as the National Enviro Quiz, the Witness Quiz, and the FFS Science Expo in Durban. Our college learners are given wonderful opportunities to learn more about our country on the various excursions they go on each year.

Excellence on your doorstep
For many parents, particularly those with children in Grades Six and Seven, this is a time of decision-making regarding your child’s high school career. It is also a time of marketing promotions by high schools, desperate to fill their classes with the “best” pupils possible. Making the decision as to which school will best suit your child is not always easy and it is important to remember to investigate thoroughly for yourself and not to rely on hearsay and misinformation that is often given out by pressure groups who are trying to “sell” a particular product, usually to ensure that their child has a support group of friends as he or she enters Grade Eight.
